Why should I rent moving equipment instead of purchasing it outright?

Renting saves time, money and space. Often, you need to bring in large volumes of bulky and heavy equipment to stage an office or industrial move event. When you rent from New Haven, you can return this kind of specialized equipment after your move instead of dedicating storage space and management time to tracking it. With one phone call to New Haven you can have everything you need to pack and move your valuables delivered right to your door. Rent only what you need, when you need it.

My move event is located on the 3rd floor.
Can New Haven deliver to my door?

Yes. We are as versatile as our customers are unique. New Haven can deliver your order to the loading dock or right to the staging site; whichever best suits your logistics plan. We’ll even split the order and deliver specific equipment and quantities to multiple floors if necessary. Contact the location nearest you for additional services and pricing.

We occasionally have to move heavy machinery and vending machines, but we don’t have a lot of space to maneuver. What product would help?

We recommend the New Haven Rol-A-Lift, a favorite of movers and warehousemen around the world. This versatile lifting device is used in pairs and can transport safes, crates, vending machines, machinery—anything too bulky or delicate for a forklift. We also recommend our heavy-duty Lift Levers, with your choice of steel or rubber wheels. Lift Levers can move a variety of heavy objects, lifting and rolling easily whether the load weighs 50 or 5,000 lbs. They are also extremely easy to store. Keep in mind that if you only have an occasional need for this specialized equipment, you can always rent it from New Haven and return it when you’re done.

I need E-CRATEs immediately. Can New Haven accommodate a 24-hour turn-around time?

No problem. New Haven Moving Equipment provides a just-in-time delivery and pick-up service directly to you, with 24 hours notice or less, making it easy and convenient. Our 18 locations across the country always have inventory available to get you what you need, fast. E-CRATEs are delivered and picked up on a predetermined schedule, eliminating all storage costs, employee downtime, workplace disruption, and clutter. Be sure to use our custom eCalculator to help you determine how many E-CRATEs you’ll need for your move.

Is custom imprinting available for E-CRATEs?

Yes. You can customize purchased E-CRATEs and IT-CRATEs with a minimum order of 100 crates. It's a great investment for your company—unlike corrugated boxes, E-CRATEs are extremely durable and can be re-used thousands of times. Customizing options include custom plastic colors and your unique logo "hot stamped" on the side. The customization lead time is 4-6 weeks, and custom colors will require the client to provide a pantone color sample and client sign-off prior to production. All custom imprinted E-CRATEs are FOB Winchester, VA. Please contact your local New Haven sales representative for more details.

I'm a one-man operation delivering appliances in the city, and often stairs are the only access I have. What can I use?

New Haven has a few stair movers that can help. The SR Express is designed for day-to-day operation and features several operator-friendly functions including remote control and adjustable platform and handles. It can handle loads up to 150 kg, yet is compact and lightweight. The Escalera Manhandler Supreme is perfect for moving heavy appliances, furnaces, water heaters, bathtubs and vending machines, and has a single control, easy to operate "up-down" switch. If you have questions about making the most of these amazing machines, New Haven can send you info and instructions on CD, or you can speak with our sales team.

Why rent a new Kentucky Trailer, rather than
buy, or lease?

Purchasing and leasing demand lengthy balance sheet commitments, usually 3 - 5 years, and generally 10% deposits. Rental does not.

New Haven rents brand new Kentucky Trailers for 13 - 24 months. Our terms are only a first and security payment. We will allow you to paint and decal the trailer to your specifications, a consideration no other leasing company will make. And unlike competing brands - there are no mileage fees with our rental. Bring the trailer back to any of our 18 locations at the end of the lease with 50% tires, and brakes. That's it. Rental allows you and your company the freedom to operate up-to-date equipment without the usual costs or long term financial burdens asssociated with capital equipment. In addition, in uncertain economic times, it's a great tool for recruiting new drivers, or rewarding your existing ones, who want the best, and newest models available.

What is the difference between a model
NH55 & NH99 furniture pad?

The model NH55 Dreadnaught and NH99 Carrier furniture pads are constructed with the same quality quilting, and finishing. The basic difference is the outer covering, or cloth quilted on the pad itself. Model NH55 Dreadnaught furniture pads have about 50% more cloth /sq inch than the NH99 Carrier. The model NH55 Dreadnaught is also about 5 pounds heavier, per dozen.

What makes New Haven's shoring beams different from other manufacturers?

Our design and engineering. New Haven manufactures both model shoring beams, the NH8000, and NH8066-3 with 92-inch extrusions, and 4 mmm side plates. Industry standards today are 2-inch shorter extrusions, and 3 mm side plates. Longer extrusions, and heavier side plates mean less beam deflection under heavy loads (like automobiles).

I would like to buy an aluminum handtruck, but it's twice the price of a steel one. Why should I?

If you were just going to buy an aluminum welded truck, similar to the steel one you picked out, it would be difficult to justify the price difference outside of "customer preference." However if you’re contemplating a New Haven modular handtruck, there are many reasons:

1. It’s lightweight.

2. It’s rust proof.

3. All of its parts are replacable.

4. New Haven handtrucks come with an 18-month warranty.

5. Each component of a New Haven handtruck can be selected to create the perfect handtruck for your application. With a completed steel handtruck, you take what the manufacturer gives you.

6. Studies show that, due to its replaceable parts and warranty, a modular aluminum handtruck will outlast a steel handtruck 5 to 1 in similar applications - easily justifying the purchase of a $150.00 aluminium handtruck over a $75.00 steel handtruck. When a steel handtruck breaks a weld for the first time, it’s basically history and is a $75.00 throw-away purchase. Steel handtrucks used in heavy duty applications will normally last one year; aluminium handtrucks will last five. It’s neccessary to remember that these studies are done on route deliveries which are considered heavy duty. These results are not valid for warehouse/general use handtrucks.

Should I buy a Liberator Junior or Senior?
What's the difference?

Although they offer the same rolling capacity as a 2-wheel handtruck (500 lbs.) and a platform truck (1,000 lbs.) respectively, the Liberator Senior offers 8" more usable platform space in the down position, and 10" more height in the up position. This can be a real benefit to high volume route drivers by necessitating fewer deliveries and ultimately saving them time. Studies have shown that this extra space can spare a beverage delivery driver 3 to 4 long trips from the parking lot to the store per day.

The Junior is used in the parcel delivery system and by route drivers using vans instead of trucks. It’s also the choice of women route drivers, as it is much more maneuverable and ergonomically friendly. The Senior’s extra 10" of height really creates a different center of gravity from the more compact Junior. In addition, the 1 lb. weight difference may not seem like a lot, but if you’re lifting a handtruck on and off a truck 20 to 30 times a day, the fatigue factor comes into play. Finally, drivers using vans don’t want to lay a handtruck on the floor - this takes up a lot of valuable space. The Junior’s height was originally designed to allow it to stand upright, so that it could bestored in the back of the van with the blade underneath the last load, and NOT take up floor space. A Senior is too tall to stand up in a van.
